Rugged mountains bordering the un spoilt Vaal River is the setting for Smilin' Thru Resort. A mere hour from Johannesburg, 10 km from Parys and part of the world-renowned Vredefort Dome Heritage Site.
Smilin Thru offer scenic landscapes, panoramic views, abundance of bird and wildlife. Fantastic fishing and rafting on our 2km of Vaal River frontage. The area is truly a nature lovers paradise with a uniqueness of being undiscovered, un spoilt and booming with possibilities.

 

Activities range from hiking, fishing, mountain biking, rafting, canoeing, bird watching, archaeological tours and Antique shopping in historic Parys. This area is fast becoming an eco-playground and wellness venue.

 

Accommodation facilities at Smilin' Thru vary from a 20 room Bed & Breakfast with all amenities to Self Catering Chalets, Caravan and Camp Sites. A mecca for kids with swimming pools, crazy golf, and play camp.

Two Self-catering 4-bed Cottages

Each Cottage is equipped with double beds in a master bedroom and 1 bunk bed or 2 single beds in the living area, fully equipped kitchen (excluding cleaning materials), NO aircon, NO TV, bathroom with bath.

Three Self-catering 6-bed Cottages

Each Cottage is equipped with either a double bed or 2 single beds in a master bedroom and 2 bunk beds in the second bedroom, fully equipped kitchen (excluding cleaning materials), NO aircon, NO TV, bathroom with shower over bath.

Rondawels

Rondawels are 4 sleepers, with 1 double bed and 2 single bunk beds and have only a shower. They are situated right on the river bank, about 300m from the pool and bar.

Chalets

The Chalets are situated on the river bank, and face each other with braai facilities in-between. They are all 4 sleepers, with either a double bed or 2 single beds in the main bedroom, and 2 single bunk beds in the lounge and a shower, about 100m from the pool.

Cottages

Our 4 sleeper Cottages have the same layout as the Chalets, but have baths instead of showers, and the 6 sleeper Cottages have 2 bedrooms with bunk beds in one and double bed in the other, they also have baths with showers in the baths

 

For that special treat, entertain the family in our restaurant , which offers an excellent A´ la carte menu with a variety of good dishes to choose from.

For the sports lover and indoor games enthusiast, the beautiful Sportsbar provides big screen coverage of all major sporting events as well as pool table, air hockey, table soccer and darts.

We have a host of leisure facilities - such as - swimming pool (including baby pool), volleyball, trampoline, putt-putt, kiddies playground,...

 

Conferencing:

 

The natural setting on the banks of the Vaal River, bird life, clean air and country atmosphere, creates a peaceful and serene environment for the hosting of conferences and a wide content range of team building (peaceful to action packed).
 

For the corporate businessman, the African Village B&B also incorporates a highly sophisticated conference venue which caters for up to 60 delegates. A breakaway room is also available for those "away from home" board meetings.

Secondly, we are extremely flexible in terms of the composition of conference agendas. Upfront we establish the client’s needs and customise a unique conference package. We encourage you to visit us and view the facilities and discuss your needs with us.
